Hobo
April 18th, 2008Today Violet played with her friends. First, Patricia was here. Toward the end of my pregnancy, when I couldn’t do anything, we hired Patricia to do housekeeping every other week. I feel guilty not keeping up with the cleaning myself, but there’s certainly enough of it for two of us. In fact, it’s about a full-time job keeping the laundry caught up, so leaving the actual cleaning-cleaning to someone else (someone professional who does a fabulously thorough job, I might add) is a great help. But I digress. My point is that Patricia and Vibble are friends, and they enjoyed some giggle time today. Then I mentioned on IM to Sarah-Architect that Patricia was here making tortillas from scratch. So Vibble got to play with her friend, Sarah, too (and I got to see firsthand that Sarah is on the mend and looking great).
After I was full of tortillas—God, YUM—I took Violet to Sony, where we walked with Stevel and Scot to get gelato. It was chilly out, so on top of her little outfit I added a purple sweatshirt and some red striped mittens. Apparently, this getup qualified her for the category of styling Stevel refers to as “The Hobo.” Today’s Hobo metaphor was extended to the carrier/car-seat/stroller, which has now become “The Boxcar.” You know, where hobos ride. Anyway, I didn’t get a shot of the whole hobo getup, but here’s Vibb sleepily showing off her sweatshirt.

Anyway to all, Grandmother and I met Patricia, she is priceless. She took care of Krissy durring her pragnancy. She kept reminding Krissy that she was FRESH and should just relax and take care of herself. This obviously was great advice, look at how Violet has turned out.
So Patricia knew Violet before she was born and has this pre-natal relationship. Violet knew her in the womb.

Purple and red – vaVOOM! Now, that’s a “WOW” kind of color combination that ANY kid would be happy to wear. Gets you plenty of attention (as if she doesn’t get enough attention already by just being adorable.)
Tell Patricia that I said “hi” and to spoil her for me, too, while she’s at it.

Most women I know, even moms like you who are at home with their children, have someone come in once every couple of weeks to do a thorough cleaning job.
They all say it’s a small price to pay to allow them more time to spend with their families and (just as you said) keep up with the insane amount of laundry.
I keep thinking I’m going to do the same and then just never get around to it. Oddly, I rather enjoy scrubbing the shower …
