Violet Expands Her Horizons Beyond California

June 17th, 2008

The trip was great. Violet is a dream on a plane at this age. When not asleep, she is grinning at the passengers around us until everyone is in love with her. She’s quite adaptable to eating and having her diaper changed on planes, on the floor in an airport terminal, anywhere. She sleeps soundly in the Baby Bjorn for hours. She did have some fussiness this weekend, but my sense was that she was pretty affected by changes in time and routine this trip. Jet Lag for Baby. She had trouble falling asleep a few times when she was clearly exhausted. But she’s recovering just fine here today.

I’m so happy I got to see my grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Enjoyable visiting, couldn’t get enough. My grandparents look wonderful and are making progress on the final paring-down of all the stuff they’ve accumulated over the years to make their move into their retirement community in Florida complete. My cousin Elyse talked to me about how things are going with college and her boyfriend of four years. She’s content, enjoying her independence and future possibilities. Olivia is a graceful, intelligent, and observant beauty. Audrey Hepburn, minus any ambition to be noticed. Lillian is instant buddies with anyone who wants to GO OUTSIDE, for any reason. She entertains herself reading otherwise, and she, too, is intelligent and beautiful. Seth was off at Basketball Camp, so, regrettably, I missed seeing him. But we had a large group for Father’s Day, and I soaked in my family and enjoyed the small-town walkability of Howell. It was more than enough to balance the uncomfortable flights.

But enough about me, here are some photos!

OK, enough of this cutesy shoot. Tell us more about your boobs. How has your relationship with them changed, now that you’ve graduated beyond A-minus (…or was it A+plus)?

Lately, I’ve been envious of boobs, but I understand that the only ways I can get them are to have them implanted, or to implant a child– both too costly at this time. However, I’d love to hear about someone else’s.

Oh, am I envious of all those folks cuddling Violet. I am glad you had a nice visit and can’t wait until it is our turn. Vibb sure knows how to smile for the camera–or is she just looking at Mom?

I wonder if Violet will look as much like you as Olivia does! Holy cow! :)

The really spooky item is, look at shots of Olivia and Lillian next to Erica and Dani. They definatly swim in the same gene pool. Hair color, noses, mouths and especially eyes. All of their eyes are gorgeous. But you can also SEE the same michevious glint and smirk behind those smiles. This is scary, they are multiplying.

Violet just smiles for anyone you love. She knows how to read people based upon your feelings for that person. You love them, Violet smiles for them. What a winning team.

How wonderful it was to see you both and be able to spend 4 days making Violet smile! Honestly, she is the happiest baby I have ever seen! Thank you, thank you, thank you for coming east to visit with all of us! Looking forward to seeing you the first week of August!

Sigh! I guess we are going to have to be happy with i-chat until September. She really does seem to be the happiest child around. Remember, I was hoping you would get that after the misrable pregnancy you spent.

So, I am in the middle of making Violet her clean shopper–better hurry up because she will soon be sitting up and embroidering pillowcases to match her room decor. I will be here for the month of July and not in Mexico except for a week.
